It Takes a Village to House a City
There are as many ways to help as there are people!
Time is running out to make tax-deductible donations before the year ends! People who file standard tax returns can now deduct $300 in charitable donations ($600 if you file jointly). Don’t miss out! Donate today.
You may have heard us say it: Ending our housing and homelessness crises will take all of us giving back creatively, using our talents and resources in the best ways we know how. And we mean it.
Meet community members Dan and Scott, who are showing up as an inspiring example.
From a home garage, these longtime friends operate a free bike-repair clinic. Both of them are experienced bike mechanics but won’t take payment for their work. Instead, they ask those who are able to donate to a nonprofit featured on their Wheel of Good Fortune, which we’re happy to say includes Human Solutions.😊
Dan puts it to their customers this way: “You get a reconditioned bicycle and a tax deduction for your donation. We get the pleasure of working on your bicycle and seeing your donations go to causes we think are important.”
Scott and Dan are making a positive impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness. They are using the skills they have and finding new ways to pay it forward. It’s a joy when we see donations arrive with a note honoring their small but mighty repair shop, because we can see that they’re building community in a way that’s meaningful and lasting – and enjoying themselves along the way!
If giving is within your means this year, please donate today to help Human Solutions provide the stability of home to neighbors in East Portland and wider East Multnomah County.
