Tammy Montgomery

Director of Community Programs for Social Justice

Tammy has been with the organization since 2016 and her current role holds the responsibility for and oversight of the Housing First Community Programs for Social Justice in the agency. After earning her master’s degree in social work, Tammy moved from California to Portland to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. In her prior role at OJF as Community Programs Manager, she effectively administered housing stability programs for eight years meeting needs of Multnomah County residents experiencing or at-risk of homelessness.

Tammy is very passionate about social justice and has spent her career addressing the issues that stem from systemic inequality and poverty. She has served and been an advocate for vulnerable and marginalized populations for over 24 years within government and non-profit social service agencies. Her experience includes working directly with clients and managing multiple programs and funding sources within the fields of domestic violence services and prevention, education, and family stabilization and supportive services.

In her free time, Tammy enjoys spending time outside in the beautiful parks of Portland, reading, cooking vegetarian foods, and spending time with family, friends, and her cat Oliver.
